Maurice Callanan RIP - A Tribute

Maurice passed away in his adopted home town, Shankill, Co Dublin. Maurice was a friend and neighbour of my mother and her family for several years and helped us out on the farm here in Eighterard, saving the hay during his summer holidays. Maurice worked in the insurance business in Dublin for many years where he met and married his wife Maureen from Cork. Maurice had a great interest in Irish History and was a guide in Kilmainham for many years. He appeared on some of the hidden history programmes on RTE, Maurice was also a lifelong and founder member of the Oughterard Pioneers. Maurice also wrote articles for Ireland’s Own. Maurice passed away after a short illness and will be sadly missed
