Sr Patricia Larkin RIP

Sr Patricia passed into her eternal reward on Monday 27th February 2023. She was part of our community here in Oughterard for many years. First arriving in 1983 to teach in St Pauls secondary school. Previously she had taught in the “all girls” secondary school in Gort, where she was also principal for a period of six years.

She remained here in Oughterard until long after her retirement from teaching, by helping out with the pastoral needs of our community; also here in our Parish Church. She taught Religion, Irish, History, Latin, Art and Commerce. (Latin and Art she taught in the girls school in Gort) She had a great grá for the Gaeilge, which she instilled in all her students, and loved nothing more than to converse “as Gaeilge”. She was a very quiet, unassuming, gentle, hard working and dedicated teacher. She always had a great smile, sense of humour and wit.

Nothing but great memories of Sr Patricia both as my teacher for six years and as a friend.
Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine. Et lux perpetua luceat ei.
