Margaret Gill was my great grandmother. My grandmother, Nora, grew up on Camp Street, her father was Micheal Heraghty. I am visiting Ireland in late May would love to connect with anyone who has information on my ancestry.
Hello Maureen. Distant relative here. Was Patrick J Gill (1929 – 2007) your Dad? He emigrated to the the US & married Mary Geoghegan (rip 1992)?
If so I have details on his siblings and most of them were younger than him. I have your Uncle Johnny as born in 1915, marrying Agnes Walsh in 1946. Of course I could be so wrong! Could you tell me if your Uncle Johnny and Aunt Agnes are the parents of John F Gill (b. 1949) & Mary J Gill (aka Maura) (b.1948), ie, your cousins?
It would be lovely if the other relatives who have left comments to comment also! I likely have one not too distant Gill that you have never even heard of; don’t worry, not a criminal, or a millionaire – sorry. Regards.
I was so lucky to have spent a little time with Uncle Johnny and Auntie Agnes. I remember her smile lit up her face, and Johnny was so warm and welcoming.
My dad was the baby of the family and thought of Uncle Johnny as a father figure. Lovely pictures.❤️
Love this picture of my grandparents so many great memories of them especially our time spent with them during summer holidays. From walks down the boathouse with grandad to granny’s lovely brown bread and scones. Special times.
Lovely photo. Agnes(nee Walsh) was my father’s sister. We used to call up to visit after mass on a sunday. They lived at the end of camp street (Dr. Tom McConnell bought the house for his Surgery) They were a lovely couple. For some reason my strongest memory was the smell of cabbage as Aunty Agnes used to cook bacon and cabbage on a Sunday!! May they rest in Peace.
What a great photo of my Grandparents wish they were still with us x
