The Catholic Question

Belfast Newsletter dated April 10th 1810

In relation to the warm sentiments expressed by Mr Leslie Lyons on the departure of Fr. Alan Burke from Oughterard, I attach a report from the Belfast Newsletter dated April 10th 1810 which gives some detail on the views of the British Establishment concerning Roman Catholics in Ireland at that time.

It also contains a report of a meeting in Omagh, County Tyrone which was called by some influential Protestants to discuss how the Roman Catholic Community and their fellow Protestants could agree to co-operate and create a better Ireland for both.
