Second class in Scoil Chuimín agus Caitríona, were enthralled to see an old school reading book from 1879! The 133 year old book was brought into school by Emily Tuck, of Main Street and it is a family heirloom! The book apparently came from Tommy Tuck’s family, through his grandmother, whose family name was Brennan and hailed from Co. Offaly.
The book is in remarkable condition and still legible! The children were very interested to compare the reading book with those that they have in the classroom today. What a wonderful find!
