Farewell To Boghall

OUGHTERARD NEWSLETTER, 1997

As residents of Oughterard for most of the last-quarter century, we must now say farewell.  We are leaving this lovely village with sorrow in our hearts. God willing we will be back as visitors (but please don’t call us Tourists).

Nothing we can say could tell the whole story of how much the village and its people have meant to us:

The Boatmen and Anglers for their efforts to preserve and improve Lough Corrib,

The Tidy Towns Committee for their work in improving the village,

The Oughterard Golf Club for being such a nice group of people.

Everyone treated us as one of their own and for that we are eternally grateful, especially to our special friends and neighbours. All of you who will live in our minds and hearts and we wish you all the best.

God Bless,

Phyllis and Russell Worth.

P.S. We’re leaving Boghall in good hands.

Slan agus Beannnacht Libh

May I, on behalf of the Oughterard Tourist and Development Association, extend you a fond farewell on your return to the United States. Your presence in our village will be sadly missed.

Both of you are shining examples of committed community involvement.

You have contributed beyond your due and we are sincerely thankful.

May you continue to enjoy good health and happiness.

We look forward to seeing you again, sometime soon in the future.

Note: Doc and Dick Gilbert the present owners of Boghall bought the property from the Worths in 1997.
