A representative meeting convened by circular was held in the League Rooms in Domnick Street, Galway on Saturday February 19th 1906 to consider the advisability of establishing a Coiste Conndae.
The Rev. Fr. Considine, President of the Galway Branch presided.
Among those present were: Fr. Moran C.C., Brother Francis Harty (Galway), Dr. Walsh, Ornamore, Dr O Beirne, Spiddal, Messrs J Hogan I.R., Tuam, L. O’Toole, Galway, David Walsh and J. Mc Quinn, Oughterard: J. Brennan, Bawnmore, P.O Máille and T. Meehan organizers, J. Dolan, Dalgin, P. Greaney and Domhnall O Duibone, Spiddal, Michael O Máille, Cornamona, E. L. Sheahan B.A.: John Rabbitt, Moycullen, Michl. Lohan and P. Gannon, Galway, M. Hartigan Menlough, M Hoctigan, Carrabrowne, John J. Connolly, English, Ahascragh.
Communications approving of the object of the meeting were received from – Rev. J. Craddock P.P. Castlegar, Rev. J. Mc Evilly C.C. Headford, Rev. D. Clarke C.C. Ardrahan, enclosing subscription: Una Ni Chulian Aran, Dr. Cawley, Gort, Mr. P. Mc Braidagh, Gort, Mr P. O Maille, Aran, Mr. P. Coen, Tullykyne. Messrs P. Mc Glew and Gallagher, Carna wired regretting inability to attend and promising co-operation. After careful deliberation it was unanimously resolved to establish a Coiste Conndae to be composed of two representatives from each affiliated branch in the County.
The following officers were appointed pro ten – Rev. A. J. Considine C.C., President, Fr. Moran C.C. and Dr. Walsh,
Vice Presidents: Domhnall Ó Duibhne and Peadar Ó Gráinne Secretary.
The secretaries were instructed to communicate with the various branches in the county, requesting them to select their representatives. They were also directed to summons a meeting for the 24th of February at 11.30 o’clock for the purpose of finally selecting officers for the current year, and for the consideration of a workable scheme of organisation in the county. It was decide to ask the Coiste Gnótha to give the services of Messrs O Máille and Meehan, organisers, to assist in placing the Coiste Conndae on a proper working basis.
