Assisted Emigration Sailings

By David Collins

Tuke’s assisted emigration scheme was set up in the 1880s to provide funds for those wishing to emigrate to Canada and the USA, but were unable to afford the cost. This resource lists the names and known details of almost 3,000 people from the Clifden Union who availed of the scheme and aims to create an awareness and understanding of their plight.
