Lough Corrib's largest Island?

By Captain Trevor K Northage MNI FRIN

“Inchagoill – Corribs Largest Island”:  I came across this broad statement high up the google list (No5 I think) while googling “Lough Corrib Islands”. It’s unfortunately very wrong. Probably best to change it ?

The largest island is Inchiquin at 1.18 sqkm, closely followed by Tonacurragh at 1.09. Next comes Inishmacatreer, then Inishdoorus. Inchagoill is a poor 5th at 0.4 sqkm.

The largest Island not connected to the mainland by a bridge is Tonacurragh, more than twice the size of Inchagoill.

Most people have never heard of Tonacurragh..
