Edith was born in Castlegrove, Tuam, Co. Galway on the 1st April 1903, the daughter of William & Annie (Tuohy) Thompson. William was a R.I.C. Sergeant and by 1911 the family were living in Oughterard. Edith’s parents are buried in Kilcummin Cemetery.
