Out of the Blue - A Little Book of Inspiration
A Rainbow in Oughterard
“A Rainbow in Oughterard”
Rainbow! Rainbow! In the sky
How I wonder when & why
God made you – was it just for show
How my Garden I should grow?
On half a hectare here I stand
Lots of Limestone – virgin land
Lots of digging, raking, sowing
Then the planting and the mowing!
To you up there, so light & breezy
Believe you me – it wasn’t easy.
But with your colour, shining bright
Inspired ive been to get it right!
For grass & leaves it’s always been
In spring you’ve recommended green-
But come October them you choose
To re-flect autumnal hues.
Rose’s red – delphiniums blue,
Daisies white & Orchids too-
Daffs & Sunflowers brilliant yellow
In the autumn all are mellow.
Pinks & Purples I have grown
Just tiny seeds when they are sown.
Thriving in your sun & rain
They clothe my plot – my world Terrain!
So Rainbow! Rainbow! In the sky –
I think I know exactly why
God painted colours on your bow
