Corrib Shores: These are our People

Exhibition at Oughterard Courthouse

Oughterard Heritage Group in conjunction with Corrib Beo is delighted to present an insight to the history of Corrib communities through the lives of local personalities.

It recognises and remembers the impacts and influences left by these individuals and represents how their stories still hold immense value amid the societies that they touched.

The exhibition demonstrates how the local ‘everyday heros’ chosen by the communities were those that promoted the Irish heritage of music and lore, pride of place, and also demonstrated adventure and an awareness of creating betterment.

In meeting the aims of Corrib Beo in ‘Bringing Communities, Nature and Economy Together for the Corrib’, this exhibition used the ‘Meitheal’ tradition of our living heritage. It is the collaborative work of eleven community groups and five language planners, supported by local authorities.

The Exhibition is being held in the Oughterard Courthouse and will be open from 4.30pm to 9pm on Friday 15th March 2024, Join us at 8pm to hear about some of the amazing people in the Exhibition.
