Some of my ancestors came from various parts of Ireland and moved here to Australia in the 1800s. I have discovered lots about many of them. One of my interests concerns the sister of my great grandfather,my great aunt Jane Hyder. She married Michael Murray in New South Wales, Australia in 1868. They had three children here, moved back to Ireland in 1876 and had twins. In 1877 they moved to Canada where they had three more children. I have a bundle of information about this family even though Jane is not my direct ancestor. Just the other day I Googled the names of Jane and Michael and came up with a newspaper notice on the Limerick City Council website which reported the marriage of Jane and Michael in 1868.
As you can see it tells me that Michael came from Oughterard, County Galway.
From the Canadian censuses I knew that Michael was born in 1840 in Ireland but had no further information about him prior to his arrival in Australia, the date of which is also unconfirmed. If anyone is interested I am happy to pass on all the information I have about Michael and his family because I do not want it to go wasted. I also found a photo of Michael Murray on the Whitby Library website, (Ontario, Canada) and helped them to verify his identity and family details.
