Winifred Donnellan was born on the 3rd July 1891 to Jamesie Donnellan & Kate Cottingham 2nd eldest of the family. She had one sister Mary who emigrated to N. Y. USA & three brothers Willie, Paddy & John.
A Nurse and Seamstress worked in Altrincham, Manchester. She travelled through Italy, France, Spain. She never married, she was engaged to Italian.
Auntie Winnie as she was known came home for her brothers funeral In 1941 to assist her sister in law Margaret (nee Clancy) in raising of young family of 9.
During Occupation of Crown Forces she was a member of Cumann na mBan and was involved in Prisoners Rights.

Winnifred was my grannys first cousin. It is lovely to have confirmation that this is her picture. I have seen it on the heritage website and thought it must be her. My granny was Kathleen Donnellan Murphy daughter of William Donnellan (Jamesies brother) and Delia Hynes Donnellan. Thank you for adding this information. I think she might also have spent time in the US.
