Seamus O’Maille
This is a memorial card for Seamus O’Maille, namesake of the GAA Club. My mother, Seamus’ niece, has kept this card for over half a century, as you can tell from its tattered condition. Seamus was executed on April 11, 1923 in Tuam Barracks. May he rest in peace.

My Grandmother Elizabeth Catherine Ferraro (nee O’Malley) was Seamus’ niece. She was Peter’s daughter, and sister of Gregs father mentioned above. She grew up in NY but I grew up in CA. She told me stories about Seamus but she thought he was hung. Obviously her father didn’t give too many details about his death. I belive I met Peter, Gregs father, my grand uncle, once in my life and I definitely met my Grand Aunt Mary (Peter’s sister) at my grandmother’s funeral. But other than that, I don’t know much about my New York (by way of Galway) family. So glad I found this. Thank you very much for posting this.

Hello, Kenneth. My dad, Peter O’Malley, was Seamus O’Maille’s nephew, son of his brother Peter. Your mom and my dad were first cousins. You and I used to play together when your mother and brothers visited our family in Queens, NY from Brooklyn. At the time, I wasn’t really aware of exactly how you and I were related. Growing up, neither myself nor my brothers and sisters nor my immediate cousins were even aware of Seamus and his fate.
Error on Date in text it should read 1923, great how this lady found the card after all those years may Seamus he rest in peace.
