Mary Ellen was born in Dublin at 114 North King Street on February 28, 1873 to Denis Keogh and Mary Anne Sorahan-Keogh. She was one of seven children within this family. At the time of her marriage, she lived at 35 Upper Dorset Street. She was married to John Henry Stewart, a Railway Gateman from Ougtherard in the Pro Cathedral, North Dublin on April 19, 1896. The official marriage certificate from the Registrar’s Office indicates the parent’s names as John Henry Stewart and Denis Keogh. The witnesses were John Howard and Elizabeth Kelly, and the service was performed by the Rev. C. Ridgeway. Her first child, Henry was born in Dublin in 1897, and then they moved first to Billymore, and then to the Railway Cottage, Rushevela, where her remaining nine children were born and raised. She remained in the cottage until her later years, when she moved into Galway with her youngest son, John Joseph and Bridie Stewart.
Mary Ellen Stewart died on 22nd November, 1957 (see attached record)

Thank you Betty for the link to this page. Mary Ellen was the younger sister of my great grandfather and I am eager to learn more about their family. I imagine Mary Ellen named her son John Joseph for her oldest brother. Their next brother was Thomas Francis who is my link to the tree. I’ll be happy to hear from any relatives who would like to share stories or memories. Warmly, Tom
Hello I wish to clarify some information on my grandmother …. she died on 22nd November, 1957 and not on May 6th, 1942. She was cared for by John Joseph (her son) and Mary Stewart (his wife). Can you pls amend the errors in the above text pls. thank you Brenda Stewart Moycullen Galway
